Denise Graveline is president of don’t get caught, a communications consultancy that specializes in strategies, training, content and messages. She uses social media as well as more traditional approaches to help clients plan and implement their communications goals; learn effective public speaking, writing and media interview skills; and develop content and messages to reach key audiences.

Her career has centered on leading communications effort for some of the largest organizations in the U.S., including directing communications at two major scientific societies, the American Association for the Advancement of Science and the American Chemical Society; leading media relations for the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation; and serving as the Deputy Associate Administrator for Communications, Education and Public Affairs at the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency. She was named Washington PR Woman of the Year in 2002 by Washington Women in Public Relations, in recognition of her career achievements and community service.

Graveline writes and publishes two blogs today: the don't get caught news and info blog, with communications and social media tips, and The Eloquent Woman, on women and public speaking. She also conducts Eloquent Woman workshops on enhancing your public speaking skills as well as workshops for men and women on improving their communications and speaking skills. A journalism graduate of Boston University, she has published dozens of articles in national publications and served as a research and writing consultant to the Carnegie Foundation for the Advancement of Teaching for its landmark study of undergraduate education, College. She also has helped develop a $20 million grant-making initiative in AIDS services and prevention and supervised the awarding of $750,000 annually in federal grants in environmental education.
