- Women and public speaking workshop, US edition: On February 28, I'll be leading the inaugural session of my new workshop, Be The Eloquent Woman, in Washington, DC. Participants will learn good public speaking skills and confidence, how women speakers are perceived, and how to subvert expectations of women speakers. There are some seats left, but you need to move fast: Registration ends at midnight ET tomorrow, February 21, 2014. Use the code NEWSL to get a $50 discount. I'm excited about launching this workshop, which benefits from all the research I've collected on women and public speaking for my blog The Eloquent Woman.
- Women and public speaking workshop, and a speechwriting conference, UK edition: On April 2, I'm bringing the Be The Eloquent Woman workshop to Oxford, UK. This session will take place at Trinity College, and is a pre-conference session of the Speechwriters and Business Communicators Conference of the European Speechwriter Network and the UK Speechwriters' Guild. Last spring in London, I gave this conference's keynote speech on women and public speaking--a good preview for my new workshop-- and gained lots of insights from my fellow speechwriters. I enjoyed myself so much I went back to chair the group's Brussels conference in the autumn. Bringing this new workshop to the UK is a dream come true, and I'm very much looking forward to it. Registration is still open for the workshop and the conference, although the early-bird rate for the workshop ends on Feb. 28.
- Helping cancer communicators get expertise on experts: I'm delighted to be bringing my popular workshop for communicators, Be an Expert on Working with Experts, to the annual conference of the National Association of Cancer Center Development Officers and the National Cancer Institute Public Affairs and Marketing Network, known as NACCDO-PAN. This is another pre-conference workshop, on April 23, and seating is limited so we can dive into the challenges and opportunities cancer communicators face in working with experts.
