- Mayo Clinic launched a center for social media, an ambitious effort you can learn from, especially if you work in medicine, nonprofits, hospitals and more.
- A new Pew report on the Latino digital divide notes that Internet and cellphone use is higher among native-born Latinos int he U.S., compared to foreign-born Latinos.
- Bad situations, good fast solutions: Here's an editable Google Map with links to information, resources, news, and details about this week's oil spill on the Kalamazoo River. On the Gulf Coast, they're using QR codes to help with the oil spill cleanup, a novel approach to doing outreach and signing up volunteers and supporters.
- Facebookery resources: The Word-of-Mouth Marketing Association blog offers 8 success criteria for Facebook marketing, and All Facebook shared how to quickly calculate Facebook share and like counts.
- Longer videos, commence: YouTube's upper limit for uploads is now 15 minutes, up from 10. Use them wisely, people.
- Re-kindling the Kindle: Amazon Kindles got a bunch of new features and a huge price drop. You can get one with wi-fi for $139, or the need-no-hotspot version with 3G for $189, making them the most price-competitive e-readers around.
